Review: Week 13

Hello World!!

While taking a look at this week's announcements I found one image in particular that really stood out to me! It was the one below.

I love this picture I find that I, myself, love going to the library just to relax or even to learn about something. I find that the library is something that I adore, and this picture summed up my life! I adore the library!

Reading Notes: Grim Brothers LibriVox Part A

Hello World!!

For this week's reading I choose to read a few of the Grim Brother's tales! I have always been interested in reading Grimm Brother's because it amazes me how different they are from the fairy tales that we love and know through Disney! I think that it is incredible how these are stories with such variety and uniqueness. The one that I found stuck out to me the most is Rapunzel.

I was surprised at how similar this story was to Disney's "Tangled." Of course that version was easily softened up for children, but who really wants to see someone get blinded by thorns heartbroken? I find that the while the Grim Brother's version of the story is heavy it isn't crazy traumatic which I am grateful for.

I also found that many animals were added to the Disney version such as Rapunzel's chameleon friend Pascal or the horse Maximus. There was also no Flynn Rider, which definitely upsets me since that was my favorite character from the movie! I understand that Disney obviously took some creative liberties, and I am glad that they did! I do wish that someone made a fairy tale set for all of the Grim Brother's tales so that we could read them and enjoy them easily!

Reading Notes: Sita Sings the Blues Part A

Hello World!!

I thought that it would be incredible to see the Ramayana from an entirely different perspective. I was impressed with how this movie looked, and once I began it was hard for me to stop. I feel that adding songs and variations through the story gives it an entirely new twist. I adore that it's presented in a way that captures you attention as well as your heart. I believe that it would also allow for more children to learn and appreciate the story especially since it is done in a kid friendly format. It would allow for them to learn from a young age, and that could very possibly leave a lasting impact on them. It could also go on to become something they would share and teach to their kids.

My favorite part of the movie so far is when Sita sings! That's right. She SINGS! I'll admit that it is an incredibly small part of the story, but I think that it is purely admirable to me how the Nina Paley chose a song that worked in Sita's favor. I also really enjoyed the narrators with their opinions! I never thought about why Sita didn't just escape with Hanuman! I think that would have changed a lot of things! It would be so interesting for Sita to not be waiting for Rama but to be able to find her own freedom with Hanuman. I wonder if she would still have to prove her innocence to Rama if that were the case. Would he still doubt her if she had found her way back to him? Maybe this would have made way for more focus on Hanuman instead, but would Rama be of any importance had Sita found a way to get out of the situation before Rama found her? The one argument brought up so many questions for me! I think it will be fun to explore them!

Learning by HEART Challenge: Help with Tips

Hello World!!

I find that a good way for me to stay positive and happy is to surround myself with people who allow me or encourage me to be that way. I find that I tend to keep away from people who give me negative vibes or make me feel terrible. I think this helps immensely with staying upbeat and positive. I recommend that you try it.

Growth Mindset Challenge: Writing Process

Hello World!!

For this week I tried to sit outside to write my story. I usually tend to write my story while sitting in my room at my desk, but this week I chose to try something new. I found that it was much easier to write a story. I found that I had easier flow and had less of an issue getting stuck. I really did enjoy the change especially since the weather was nice.
